The Octagon Shopping Centre – parking continues to make a mark
02nd July 2010
The Octagon Shopping Centre’s car park has been awarded a Park Mark Safer Parking Award for a second consecutive year.
The Park Mark Safer Parking Scheme is an initiative of the Association of Chief Police Officers of England, Wales and Northern Ireland and is managed by the British Parking Association. The Park Mark Scheme aims to set a benchmark for crime reduction as well as ensuring that minimum standards are maintained.
A blind assessment of The Octagon Shopping Centre’s car park was carried out last month and focused on its management practice, crime recording and statistics, boundaries and perimeters, vehicular and pedestrian access, parking areas, surveillance, lighting and signage. Following this assessment, and the observations made by the Scheme’s adjudicators, The Octagon was found to have successfully met and exceeded expectations in each category and has been presented with an official Park Mark Award for 2010.
Peter Hardingham, Centre Manager at The Octagon Shopping Centre commented: “We are really pleased that we have been presented with the award for a second year and that The Octagon has continued to maintain its secure and safe parking facilities”.
The Park Mark Award is presented on an annual basis and The Octagon Shopping Centre will be reassessed again in 2011 to ensure that standards carry on being maintained.
